Let’s get into my favorite vegan food in Savannah, Georgia!

Fox & Fig
Fox & Fig

Fox & Fig Café

THE LEGEND! Fox & Fig was the first fully vegan restaurant in Savannah, Georgia. It is nationally renowned as one of the best vegan restaurants across the United States. They call themselves a plant-food café & they change their menu based on the season. This is the place even my non-vegan friends love to come!

They have the Beyond Meat burger which they have turned into their own delicious, creative version called the “Fox Burger.” Everything is prepped in house except for the bread which is from a local bakery, Auspicious Baking Co., the hot sauce which is made locally as well from Greg’s Famous Hot Sauce, and the ice cream which is from the local, famous ice cream shop Leopold’s. They also have homemade sweets and donuts in house from their sister café, Henny Penny Café.

They have everything from pancakes and chia pudding to cheesy garlic bread and mac and cheese. I haven’t had one thing from this place that I haven’t loved. You must try the one of their milkshakes – they’re to die for! This is definitely the best vegan food in Savannah, Georgia.

Hungry Vegan

Hungry Vegan

This is a delicious, black-owned vegan joint that serves the best vegan soul food and oyster mushrooms!

I love fried oyster mushrooms due to their meaty texture that mimics fried chicken, but cruelty-free! Besides fried oyster mushrooms, the menu has options from fried cauliflower to Impossible burgers, spaghetti and meat sauce, cornbread, mac and cheese, rice, and veggies.

The menu is completely vegan with occasional specials. Definitely check this place out if you’re in Savannah and want fried “chicken.” (photo credit: Hungry Vegan)

Kayak Kafe

Kayak Kafe

Kayak Kafe is a healthy, fresh restaurant with awesome vegan options. They have two locations, one downtown on Broughton Street and one in midtown Savannah. Some of the vegan options are tater tot nachos (they make their own homemade cashew nacho cheese), crab cake patties, walnut chorizo or tiger tofu tacos, taco bowl, burritos, sandwiches, burgers, guacamole, homemade hummus with pita, vegetarian salad with hummus, pita, olives, cucumber, and tofu (ask for no feta and the cilantro-lime dressing), and cookies and peanut butter pie. (photo credit: @paprikasouthern)

Henny Penny

Henny Penny Café/Coffee Fox

These two cafes are a part of the Fox & Fig family, but offer different fare. They don’t have actual sit-down vegan food, but good desserts and coffees. Henny Penny is famous for their vegan donuts ranging in flavors from cookies ‘n creme, maple, strawberry, cookie butter, chocolate, lavender, rose & pistachio, and more. These are the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life and this is the only place in Savannah that serves awesome vegan donuts (besides Whole Foods). Both offer vegan cinnamon rolls, lemon bread, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, cookie dough brownies, muffins, and more. Everything is homemade!

Sentient Bean

Sentient Bean

I loved this place even before I was even vegan! It is such a cute café with plenty of vegan options for breakfast and lunch. They have tofu scramble burritos, tacos, salads, smoothies, baked goods, pancakes, and more. I’ve enjoyed everything I have tried there and it is right across from Forsyth Park. Enjoy a vegan meal and walk through the famous park. It is also right next to Brighter Day, a local grocery store with MANY vegan options you can’t find anywhere else. They also make vegan to-go meals and snacks. (photo credit: @sentientbean)

CO

Co

Co has a full vegan menu now, you just have to ask for it & they will bring you a separate menu. They have fried rice with tofu, sushi rolls, lemongrass tofu, spring rolls, udon noodles, and salads. (photo credit: @mr.landau)

Tequila’s Town

Tequila’s Town

I love Mexican food, so I’m very happy this popular restaurant has added so many options for vegans. They have avocado toast, a veggie burrito, mushroom and zucchini tacos, salads, cilantro rice, black beans, and the pura vida bowl. The pura vida bowl is my absolute favorite! It has cilantro lime rice, black beans, pico de gallo, avocado, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, radishes, pickled onions, and a creamy tomato dressing. (photo credit: @tequilastown)

Carlito’s

Carlito’s Mexican Bar & Grill

Carlito’s has now moved to Pooler, but if you find yourself in that area, they have such awesome vegan options! Again, I loooove Mexican food, and this place has awesome food labeled as vegan on their menu! They have vegan meat and cheese substitutes. (photocredit: @___tree)

Savoy Society

Thank goodness for this place! They serve global dishes & cocktails offered in a late-night, comfy bar & restaurant setting. It’s super cute and the vegan options are amazing! They have an awesome sandwiches that you can sub vegan mozzarella for, a vegetable plate, sliders, salads and my favorite which is their Mexican-inspired footlong vegan hot dog served with a side of tater tots covered in house-made vegan queso.

Zunzi’s

This is a Savannah must-have! They have South African inspired sandwiches and they are HUGE and delicious! Their Rising Sun and Johnny Roll are great options served with their signature Zunzi sauce which are all vegan (but please double check and ask as this might change). You will definitely be full after eating here and their sauces are to die for! I like to eat outside, so if it’s nice weather – grab your sandwich and eat right outside!

The Fat Radish

This place has unique and delicious vegan options. They claim they have, “simple dishes created with seasonal & locally sourced ingredients in Savannah,” which is a plus to me! They have vegan appetizers, sides, salads, burgers, and specialty plates along with local Leopold’s vegan ice cream. I went their for a business lunch once and they had an awesome vegan bowl made with local, fresh vegetables and it was to die for. Definitely more upscale and pricier menu.

Coco & Moss

This is an aesthetic Japanese fare restaurant with sushi, poke bowls, and salads. They have vegan bowls, but you can mostly veganize any of the bowls by subbing tofu for the meat option. Just ask about the sauces, because not all of them are vegan. This is the BEST tofu I’ve ever had! So flavorful and delicious. Not to mention, this place is super cute so it’s a great place to capture your next Instagram pic!

Bull Street Taco

This is a popular restaurant in the Savannah scene. They have amazing white hummus and mushroom tacos on beet tortillas as well as falafel. Their guacamole is some of the best I have had. They also offer agave dijon slaw, beans, and rice. Beware: the buffalo cauliflower tacos are NOT vegan unfortunately.

The Collin’s Quarter

This is a beautiful brunch place that has two locations: Bull St. and in Forsyth Park. They have chia pudding, granola with almond milk, salad, and a few things you can veganize such as their avocado toast, smashed pea toast, and Beyond Meat burger.

Flying Monk Noodle Bar

This restaurant offers Asian noodles and pho. You can veganize almost any option on their menu by subbing the meat for tofu. This is a super popular restaurant for tourists on Broughton Street, so they’re often very busy. The noodles are very authentic and delicious.

Green Truck Neighborhood Pub

I love veggie burgers, and Green Truck Pub has the best. They make them in-house as well as their ketchup and vegan chili. Their fries are EPIC, but I hate their ketchup and I’m the biggest ketchup lover on this planet. There is a debate in Savannah on whether the ketchup is good or not – it’s up to you to decide! They usually have a wait, so prepare ahead.

Savannah Coffee Roasters

I love this café. The love the ambiance and bright lighting, so I really enjoy working here when I can. When I first started coming here, they had NO vegan options, but now they have vegan Beyond Meat products: the brat and burger which they dress up really nicely. I love their drinks too!

Naan on Broughton

Almost all Indian restaurants have vegan options, which is why I love Indian food. This is the place for great Indian vegan food in Savannah, Georgia. It tells you on the menu what things are vegan and which are vegetarian. You have to be careful & ask though, because things that you would think are vegan may not be.

Ruan Thai

Thai curry is probably my favorite foods in the world. Unfortunately, a lot of local restaurants that offer them make them ahead of time with fish sauce. This place is nice because you can ask them to make it without the fish sauce and with tofu. I love their vegetable spring rolls and curries.

Fire Street Food

As I said, I love Thai curry, but theirs are not vegan unfortunately. They do have great tofu teriyaki though that comes with rice and a side of cabbage. Their ginger salad and vegetable spring rolls are amazing.

Rancho Alegre

Before I was vegan, I absolutely loved Cuban food. I’m so glad this place offers vegan options. They have two on their menu which include plantains, tostones, yuca fries with mojito sauce, black bean empanadas, black bean soup, rice, and roasted vegetables.

Mellow Mushroom

I’m obsessed with pizza & Mellow Mushroom has a special crust for vegans and vegan cheese! They also have different flavors of tempeh which is nice to top on the pizza. Their bruschetta is even good without the feta! Make sure to ask them to put the vegan cheese before the toppings, otherwise it’s not as good.

Cotton and Rye

I haven’t been to this restaurant yet, but one of my best friends has and she said they made her a beautiful vegan dinner and on their menu they state they have vegan options daily.
